Discover the fourth priority of our Innovation Roadmap. Our commitment is to embrace new, innovative and sustainable solutions, especially to address the big challenges facing Queenslanders and support key events like the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Explore the key initiatives across government for opportunities to participate and prosper.

Outcome

Queensland’s big challenges and events are supported through innovative and sustainable solutions

Our priority is to encourage innovative and sustainable solutions to address the challenges faced by government and improve the lives of all Queenslanders.

Our startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can play an important role in helping to address some of the state’s most pressing issues such as health, housing, community safety, cost of living and decarbonisation.

Major events including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games also provide opportunities for our local innovative SMEs to design new products and services to support our athletes to perform at their best.

Corporates also play a role in embracing innovative and sustainable solutions through procurement opportunities with local innovative suppliers.

Objectives

These objectives clarify the actions we need to take to achieve this priority:

  • Encourage increased innovation and participation by innovative startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Queensland Government procurement.
  • Facilitate more partnerships and contracts between corporates, SMEs and startups.
  • Increase investment to support the development and implementation of solutions for key challenges and events.
  • Improve business collaboration on innovation.

Key initiatives

These initiatives spread across various agencies are just the start — more will be added as the Roadmap continues to get delivered and reviewed. All of the initiatives contribute to achieving the ultimate goals of the Roadmap across different sectors of the economy.
