About the achievements

The Advance Queensland – Innovation for a Future Economy: 2022–2032 Roadmap (the Roadmap) was launched in July 2022 and sets out the direction, key priority outcomes and initiatives for the next phase in Queensland’s innovation journey.

The Roadmap is a whole-of-government plan that reflects the innovation efforts and investments by all Queensland Government agencies.

Deliver the Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives, a unique and innovative project that sees QCS working in partnership with Griffith University and the Paul Ramsay Foundation to improve the lives of women and their families in contact with the criminal justice system and stop the cycle of reoffending.*

QCS supported the implementation of the Transforming Lives Program at Southern Queensland Correctional Centre with a scheduled go-live date of January 2024. Additionally, QCS is an active participant in, and champion for, the government-wide Systems Change Board as part of the Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives initiative to support the identification and reduction of systemic barriers within the criminal justice system.

In August 2023, the establishment of a new state-of-the-art Cyber Security Training Operation Centre (CSTOC) at TAFE Queensland's Coomera campus was the fourth facility opened to provide world-class training in monitoring, detecting, and containing IT threats across critical applications, devices, and systems. This initiative follows the three CSTOC’s delivered at Mooloolaba, Southbank and Cairns TAFE.

A facility to enable a critical minerals processor to move to full-scale production of high purity alumina was announced in Gladstone in July 2023 funded under the Queensland Government’s Industry Partnership Program. Under the Advance Queensland Private Sector Pathways program, Work Window was engaged to develop five new Virtual Reality experiences to assist Young Tourism Leaders in showcasing the diverse career opportunities to students. These virtual reality experiences are used by Young Tourism Leaders to engage with students at career expos and in school presentations to assist in attracting the tourism workforce of the future.

77 organisations funded a total of $7.5 million under Rounds 1 and 2 of ActiveKIT (Knowledge | Information | Technology) to support innovative solutions within the active industry to increase physical activity opportunities for Queenslanders and contribute to system-wide capability improvements.

A Super Round opened for Expressions of Interest with a program budget of $3.3 million over 2023/24 and 2024/25.

The SportXccelerating Growth Pilot Program was built in response to the need for Queensland-based SportsTech company growth pathways. This program offered a comprehensive approach to fast-tracking the growth and export readiness of SportsTech companies in Queensland. Conducted from May to August 2023, the Program included a bootcamp, advisory support, and a showcase event, resulting in increased revenue and partnerships for participants.

Empower and support innovative community-led responses to local issues through an Innovation Fund, which will support community organisations to act on the matters that affect their local communities.

In August 2023, 10 organisations were announced as the successful recipients of $3.4 million in Communities Innovation Fund grants. This funding is supporting innovative and community-led responses to social isolation and loneliness across Queensland.

Advance Queensland delivered 11 media training workshops and 3 storytelling workshops across the State involving more than 170 start-up participants. Following the workshops, Advance Queensland published two resources kits on the Advance Queensland website for Queensland startups – a Storytelling Resource Kit and a Media Release Resource Kit.
