Discover the second priority of our Innovation Roadmap. Promoting and supporting more research collaboration and commercialisation in Queensland is vital to ensure research is translated into commercialisation opportunities for a thriving innovation economy. Explore the key initiatives across government for opportunities to participate and prosper.

Outcome

Queensland’s world-class research and collaborations are translated into creating commercialisation opportunities

Queensland is globally recognised for our research quality — the challenge is to commercialise it in partnership with industry to create innovative products and services that can help improve the lives of people and support the creation of new jobs.

Improving research and business collaboration at the same time as increasing expenditure on research and development and commercialisation outcomes are all important steps towards creating a thriving innovation economy.

Objectives

These objectives clarify the actions we need to take to achieve this priority:

  • Increase expenditure on research and development.
  • Enhance commercialisation of research and development.
  • Improve research and business collaboration.
  • Support the growth of university research income.
  • Increase investment in intellectual property.
