The Challenge:

The greatest source of discrimination for people with disability is from service and hospitality staff. Importantly, this is not deliberate but inadvertent. With Over 70% of all disability being invisible and each disability unique to each person, service and hospitality staff are left to guess and lack the confidence to deliver empathetic service to customers with disability.

The innovation:

Cérge’s digital accessibility platform helps people with disability confidently navigate community spaces through tools such as AI Wayfinding, 360° Virtual Tours, sensory guides and pre-visit communication. Their flagship tools provide a visual preview of venues and answer common accessibility questions automatically, reducing customer anxieties while increasing frontline staff confidence and efficiency. Cérge’s tools are already being used by councils, tourism operators, stadiums and government bodies across Australia and overseas.

Backed by the Queensland Government, Cérge delivered the Inclusive Sport Challenge, which provided a digital concierge service and accessibility information for 50 sporting venues in 50 days. Additionally, Cérge was selected as one of eight Queensland companies to participate in the Queensland Government’s NRL Magic Round Tech Sprint program, providing opportunities for the company to champion accessibility from elite sport stadium fan engagement through to participation at grass-roots community venues. Government support has also played key roles in enabling Cérge’s growth both across sectors and into international markets including Singapore, India and the UAE.

The future

With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, the Queensland Government remains committed to supporting technologies that enhance accessibility, inclusion, and tourism excellence — and is calling on departments and partners to embrace made-in-Queensland innovation as part of a lasting Olympic and Paralympic legacy. Cérge is part of that legacy, ensuring venues are not only ready, but truly welcoming to all.
