Industry Research Projects now open

The state’s top minds in research and business will be brought together to solve key challenges facing industry as part of a new program.

Funding of up to $1.5 million is now available through Industry Research Projects for industry and research partners to undertake research that offers real commercial opportunities.

Industry Research Projects was designed as a companion program to the Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowships, which have been offered since 2018.

Applications must be from Queensland-based organisations, and include collaboration between at least one Queensland-based research organisation and at least one Queensland-based private or not-for-profit industry/organisation.

All projects must address at least one of the specified priority investment areas which focus on the use of technology to advance industry areas and include sports technology and projects focussed on innovation in the tourism industry.

The program will offer two funding tiers:

  • Tier 1 grants of between $500,000 to $1.5 million on a 1:1 matched funding basis available to university/research institute or industry applicants from South East Queensland.
  • Tier 2 grants of between $250,000 to $1.5 million, with a minimum 25 per cent matched funding available to applicants from a Queensland region.

Applications for Industry Research Projects are open from 28 August 2023 and close on 28 November 2023 at 11am (AEST).
