Advance Queensland Initiative

We are backing Queenslanders by building our innovation economy to drive economic growth and create jobs in our regions.

Innovation drives us forward.

The Queensland Government has always invested in innovation to create a better future for all Queenslanders.

In 2014 the government commissioned Professor Josh Lerner, Head of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at Harvard Business School to research how Queensland could get maximum benefit from investing in innovation.

The Advance Queensland initiative was designed on Professor Lerner’s recommendations with the goal of using global best practices to build Queensland’s innovation economy.

Advance Queensland was launched in July 2015 with a $180 million investment.

We are building our innovation economy

Today we have a massive $755 million investment driving economic growth and creating jobs across all Queensland regions.

We’re backing Queensland innovators, and investors are backing us with more than $992.5 million committed by program partners.

Together, we have invested more than $1.7 billion to make Queensland’s innovation economy stronger.

We are working together

Advance Queensland is delivered by nine Queensland Government departments working in partnership with industry, businesses, universities, startups, investors and the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur.

We work together because we all want to get the best outcomes for Queensland’s innovation economy.

We are delivering results

We have already helped thousands of innovators and projects to succeed and supported more than 28,000 jobs across the state.

By imagining new ways of doing things we are moving forward as a state, a community and as individuals.

We will continue to build our innovation economy and deliver benefits for all Queenslanders.
