Advance Queensland support for Queensland female founders

Queensland female founders have been recognised for their contribution to Australia’s innovation ecosystem with almost $1 million in Advance Queensland support.

There are 11 successful recipients – including two universities – which are part of round one of the Advance Queensland Accelerating Female Founders Program.

The 11 organisations will share in total funding of $927,694 and will provide a host of practical business development and technical skills programs for almost 500 female founders and leaders of innovation-driven enterprises.

The agencies will deliver a range of business development programs, from incubator and pre-accelerator for early-stage start-up founders building their product or service to accelerators for more mature start-ups and scaleups – all with the aim of improving chances of commercial success.

Five of the 11 agencies are based regionally, including Rockhampton, Cairns, Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast.

Programs range from incubators and pre-accelerators for early-stage startup founders building their product or service, to accelerators for more mature startups and scaleups, all with the aim of improving their chances of commercial success.

They include Impact Boom and its social enterprise accelerator program, the Sunshine Coast’s Food and Agribusiness Network with its food and beverage accelerator program, and the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Hub (ARM Hub) at Northgate in Brisbane, where the program was launched.

The Accelerating Female Founders Program is part of Advance Queensland’s Backing Female Founders Program, which first launched in 2019.

Since then, Advance Queensland’s programs have supported 1500 women begin and grow their businesses and business skills.
