Global Agrifood Innovation Centre (GAFIC) Ltd received funding from Advance Queensland to establish and run a multi-million-dollar agtech and logistics hub in Toowoomba over three years.
The vision for the hub is to grow the agriculture industry through the development and adoption of innovation and technology.
Located at the corner of Vision and Witmack Roads at Wellcamp, the hub will facilitate connections, collaboration, partnerships and opportunities to solve the agricultural industry’s biggest challenges.
The hub will work across the food and agriculture supply chain, from creating more sustainable growing practices to efficient logistics services and new consumer products. This will involve connecting startups, SMEs, industry and researchers on industry-led projects, trialling new techniques and specialized equipment (such as virtual reality, robotics and drones) and access to commercial networks.
It will create opportunities for agtech startups to develop solutions directly with industry and researchers, to create real value for our agriculture and to export tech to the world.
The development of the hub is being supported by a $3 million investment from Advance Queensland.
