AQ Media workshops for start-ups a success across the state

Advance Queensland has been running a series of media training workshops for Queensland start-ups over the past few months.

The workshops aim to equip our innovators and entrepreneurs with the communication skills they need to tell their stories.

The team has run nine two-hour workshops to date, including at Split Spaces in Mackay, the Agtech and Logistics Hub in Toowoomba, the Gold Coast Innovation Centre, Innovate Moreton Bay and Smart Precinct NQ in Townsville.

The workshops have attracted over 100 start-ups from across the innovation ecosystem, including biotechs, agtechs, new product developers, app developers, and education technology firms.

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, including:

  • "Thanks for the media release course yesterday. It was very helpful for understanding what I need to do right down to the nuts and bolts. Great course and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. Please feel free to email me with other courses you're running"
  • "It was such a much needed and wonderful workshop for me about storytelling and media literacy!"
  • "100% very informative on how to present ourselves and our business, whilst pinpointing target market"
  • "A very helpful guide to producing a media release and approaching journalists with my pitch"
  • "Thanks for a fit-for-purpose presentation that will give me the confidence to write my first media release"
  • "The workshop was very informative and covered all areas required".

Future workshops are planned for the Sunshine Coast at the Peregian Digital Hub as well as specifically for Queensland’s sport tech industry.
