Encourages research collaborations between scientists in Queensland and the Chinese Academy of Sciences with grants over 2 years to deliver benefits for Queensland and China.

What's important

  • The 2017–2018 round is now open for application.
  • Grants of $125,000 over 2 years are available to Queensland research organisations.
  • Chinese participants in approved projects will receive $125,000 from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
  • Eligibility criteria apply.
  • Applications will close 11am on 22 February 2018.


The proposed project must create or enhance a research alliance between Queensland and China research organisations. The project application must meet eligibility criteria:

  • focus on 1 of the 3 identified priority areas:
    • agricultural biotechnology and food research (including food safety)
    • human health: immunology or neuroscience
    • energy
  • be led by a Queensland-based research organisation
  • have a lead participant (partner) that is a CAS affiliated institute.

More than $1,000,000 in funding has been allocated to 8 research projects, which involved collaboration between scientists in Queensland and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
