When avid skateboarder Jeff Anning first discovered motorised skateboards four years ago, he had a hard time finding one that could live up to his expectations. Jeff found the available crop of motorised skateboards oversized and clunky, and the ride quality wanting.
"I tried all the different models available at the time, and found that the high wattage motor they commonly used was only necessary because they also used heavy lead acid batteries and poor quality parts," says Jeff.
Unwilling to settle for less, Jeff took matters into his own hands, creating a line of high-powered electric skateboards, which have been a resounding success since they launched in July 2012.
As creator of Evolve Skateboards based at Arundel, Jeff designed a mechanical structure that attaches to the same parts used in manual skateboards. He then spent three years fine-tuning every part of the structure until he was satisfied that he had created the highest quality electric skateboard on the market.
A testament to his workmanship, Jeff's first run of skateboards were completely sold out within the first few weeks of release. Jeff's innovation have also garnered him several awards and accolades, including the Queensland Government 2015 Export Awards, and the Good Design Award.
Evolve Skateboard now boasts a global customer base spread over 30 countries but this has not stopped Jeff from aiming even higher. Jeff is back at work designing, testing and optimizing every part of his skateboard so that he can produce, what he believes, are the best electric skateboards in the world.
"We're passionate about creating the highest quality carving machines that incorporate the best longboarding concepts with the latest technology," he says.
"The whole team is focused on producing superior quality electric skateboards while ‘Evolve-ing’ with advances in technology."
