New regional innovation hubs create even more opportunities for regional Queensland communities

Advance Queensland is proud to announce the opening of two new innovation hubs in regional Queensland. Located at Rockhampton and Townsville, the new centres for innovation will help foster innovation in our regions and create even more opportunities for locals now and into the future.

Advance Technology and Innovation Centre Rockhampton

Advance Queensland has partnered with Central Queensland University to deliver the $2.8 million Advance Technology and Innovation Centre in Rockhampton.

The delivery of the Centre is an action under the Building our Innovation Economy Advance Queensland strategy and is designed to create jobs in the agtech, mining and manufacturing industries in regional Queensland.

The new centre provides regional communities with innovation, entrepreneurship and educational opportunities and includes the development of a startup space for local businesses.

Co-located within the same building as the Advanced Manufacturing Hub in Rockhampton, the centre is accessible by the community, industry and schools to engage with contemporary technologies, investigate new career opportunities and trial new business ventures.

The centre will focus on priority industries, including:

  • agtech
  • manufacturing innovation
  • engineering
  • information and communication technologies and design (ICT and design).

Specialised technical and training equipment will be made available for use within the centre including 3D printers, agtech sensors and satellite-linked geographic imaging systems, computer-aided design, virtual reality equipment, crawler robots and other robotic equipment.
