Advance Queensland Screen Industry 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan
The Advance Queensland Screen Industry 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan (PDF, 2.2MB) outlines the state’s vision to be a globally recognised commercial and creative leader in the screen industry, creating jobs of the future, boosting our economy, and enriching the community with diverse content.
Our screen industry is widely recognised for its growing economic and cultural contribution to the state. Screen practitioners in Queensland consistently produce high quality, culturally valuable content across a range of screen platforms.
The term ‘screen’ has traditionally referred to film and television productions, however the effects of digital disruption have changed how ‘screen’ is defined. In addition to film and television, ‘screen’ now includes app development, interactive games and content, online digital content and subscription video on demand platforms.
The Roadmap forms part of the Queensland Government’s Advance Queensland initiative and aims to support the existing contribution the screen industry makes to the cultural fabric of our community, while recognising and boosting the sector’s economic impact. It is the first step towards identifying a course of action over the next ten years to achieve our vision:
By 2028, Queensland will be a globally recognised commercial and creative leader in the screen industry, creating jobs of the future, boosting our economy, and enriching the community with diverse content, created for Australian and global audiences in all formats and for all platforms.
The Roadmap outlines our journey to achieve this vision and focuses on four key objectives:
- expand the global reach of Queensland’s screen industry
- support Queensland’s diverse local screen practitioners
- boost capability in the Queensland screen sector
- build a screen-friendly Queensland.
