Hot DesQ

Attracting international and interstate entrepreneurial talent to boost Queensland’s startup ecosystem and broaden our global connections.

What's important

  • Applications for round 3 closed at midday (AEST) 19 September 2018.
  • Hot DesQ provides an injection of startup talent to bring in new skills and experience, broaden our connections and open up access to global markets.
  • Hot DesQ is a competitive application process with international and interstate entrepreneurs vying to receive $50,000 - $100,000 in funding to relocate their ideas and business ventures to Queensland.
  • The global Hot DesQ campaign is showcasing Queensland’s successful and inspiring startup community, and profiling our industry strengths, as well as leveraging our proximity to Asia Pacific.

About the program

This Australian-first program attracts international and interstate startups to Queensland for at least 6 months to pursue their businesses and help grow the entrepreneurial sector in the State.

Hot DesQ provides an injection of new entrepreneurs to create new businesses and jobs, and broaden international connections as well as providing access to global markets and investors.

Hot DesQ leverages off Queensland’s competitive advantages such as proximity to the Asia Pacific region and capability in med-tech, agriculture, aviation and mining, attracting world-class entrepreneurial talent.

The program has been designed to put startups across Queensland at the centre by basing the incoming startups in existing innovation hubs around the State.

The program is modelled on successful international programs such as Startup Chile which has been running since 2010.

Hot Entrepreneurs

Hot Entrepreneurs from the Advance Queensland Hot DesQ program are hitting the road to regional Queensland.

Hot Entrepreneurs are international or interstate entrepreneurial talent who have been attracted to Queensland by Hot DesQ to help boost our startup ecosystem and broaden global connections.

Our Hot Entrepreneurs all have unique experiences and skills to share. They will be attending and running all sorts of events through Queensland, from one-on-one mentoring sessions, lunch and learns and question and answer sessions, to attending startup weekends.
