Female Founders' Program

The Queensland Government has placed gender equity as a priority issue and made an election commitment to support female founders to start and grow their business.

What's important

  • The 2017 StartupAUS Crossroads report found that only 4% of startups have an all-female founding team and as few as 15% have at least one female founder.
  • Feedback has been gathered to help shape the program design to ensure Queensland maximises the number of inspirational women involved in our startup community.

SheEO Queensland Activator Opportunity now closed

SheEO is a radically redesigned ecosystem that supports, finances, and celebrates female innovators. Advance Queensland has sponsored 10 SheEO Activator places ($1100 contribution) for Queensland women.

The 10 Queensland SheEO Activators in the network will have the opportunity to:

  • Join a global network of radically generous women
  • Participate in an online voting process to select the SheEO Ventures, and support the selected Ventures
  • Attend the annual SheEO Australian Summit
  • Participate in and organise local events and meet-ups

All applications must be based in Queensland.

The deadline for application has now passed. All applicants will be notified in due course.

About the Female Founders program

The Female Founders program is designed to assist female founders at different stages of the entrepreneurial lifecycle. The program will be focused on increasing the participation rates and business skills of female founders in Queensland along with providing support to female founders who are in the growth phase and need assistance to take their business to the next level.

On International Women’s Day 2019 Minister Kate Jones announced that Impact Innovation Group with Advisory Board Centre will commence the development of the Advance Queensland Female Founders Program.

The program is aimed at female founders who are:

  • starting out or have a good business idea/concept but need to work on their business skills and capability
  • looking for mentors
  • wanting to attend networking events
  • getting ready to establish an advisory board
  • seeking connection with a community of female founders
