Inspirational Queenslanders named community digital champions

Digitally-savvy Queenslanders were celebrated yesterday as inspirational role models helping our diverse communities make the most of digital technologies at the launch of the Advance Queensland Community Digital Champions program.

Minister for Housing and Public Works and Minister for Science and Innovation, The Hon Leeanne Enoch announced ten inaugural champions.

These Advance Queensland Community Digital Champions will work with their local communities to help improve digital literacy and digital adoption, and share their inspirational stories and expertise.

At the launch at the State Library of Queensland, surrounded by leaders in the community sector, Minister Enoch called out to digital advocates from industry, community and all demographic groups to give back to their communities and teach others how to benefit from the digital age.

The Advance Queensland Community Digital Champions program is helping Queensland to thrive in the global digital economy.

At the event, renowned public speaker Helen Milner OBE, Chief Executive of Tinder Foundation, a UK not-for-profit social enterprise shared her thoughts on how she has helped people access the internet and gain digital skills to improve their lives.
